Independence, Outdoor Skills, and Great Mates
Scouts offers older children (aged 10½-14) the chance to develop their independence, tackle genuine outdoor challenges, and form strong, lasting friendships.
- Outdoor Skills: Scouts spend a lot of time outside learning traditional survival skills, from navigating and hiking to building rafts and cooking over open fires.
- Taking the Lead: They get a real say in what the group does, helping to plan activities, make decisions, and learn to think on their feet.
- Broadening Horizons: Scouts get involved in larger community projects and often have the opportunity to attend bigger camps, meeting Scouts from all over the country.
- Earning Top Awards: By challenging themselves and stepping out of their comfort zones, they work toward the Chief Scout’s Gold Award, a recognized mark of commitment and skill.
On the main Scouts website, you can find out about Scouts awards and activity badges, as well as the uniform and badge placement.
Here at 11th Gillingham our Scout Troop meets every Friday from 7:00pm to 9:00pm during term time. If you would like to book a place for your child please go to the Contact Us page and fill out the form. The Group Scout Leader will get in contact with you shortly.
