Explorer Section

Real-World Skills, Teamwork, and Adventure
Explorers is a relaxed, friendly space for teenagers aged 14-18 to step up, plan their own activities, and gain valuable life skills that look great on a CV.
- Choosing the Programme: Explorers are not told what to do; they take charge of planning their own trips, managing budgets, and deciding what they want to achieve.
- DofE and Top Awards: It is a fully supported environment to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards and the King’s Scout Award, both of which are highly respected by universities and employers.
- Young Leaders: Teenagers have the chance to gain hands-on experience and build confidence by volunteering to help run the younger Scout sections.
- Bigger Adventures: Whether it is organising an independent expedition or travelling abroad, Explorers get the chance to experience new cultures and create amazing memories with a close group of friends.
On the main Scouts website, you can find out about Explorers awards and activity badges, as well as the uniform and badge placement.
Sound like fun? That’s because it is. All that’s missing is you.
11th Gillingham is the home of the Phoenix Explorer Unit which meets every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm during term time.
