Microlight flight

The explorers and some of the older scouts went to the Old Hay Airfield to have a flight in a microlight. It was a beautiful sunny day towards the end of May and flying conditions were good. Visibility was excellent with views from the East End of London and the Shard in the north west to the off shore wind farm in the north east to Bewl Water to the south. The children were divided into two groups and while the fist group were briefed and prepared for the flight the second group attended a lecture regarding flying and navigating. Flights were fifteen to twenty minutes long and it took all day to get all the children and a couple of the leaders up in the air to enjoy the views and have a go at flying.
